Intel Sandy Bridge

INTEL® MICROARCHITECTURE CODENAME SANDY BRIDGE

The next-generation Intel® microarchitecture codename Sandy Bridge is an incredible leap in processor integration and manufacturing. Introduced in the 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processor family, some of the highlights of this new microarchitecture include:
  • Manufactured entirely on Intel® 32nm process technology, delivering yet another leap in performance and energy efficiency beyond previous generation process technologies.
  • All cores plus graphics are integrated on a single chip, enabling new levels of visual experiences on a PC.
  • Even more performance boost when you need it with Intel® Turbo Boost 2.0.
  • Yet another step in increased efficiency by intelligently matching performance to workloads, while optimizing power efficiency across cores and graphics engine.

Fully integrated microarchitecture

Sandy Bridge Model
Sandy Bridge unifies processor cores, memory controller, last-level cache (LLC), and graphics and media processing. Such tight integration enables a host of performance and efficiency improvements, such as:
  • Fast access by cores and graphics to shared data in the last-level cache accelerates graphics processing.
  • Fewer buses over which data and signaling must travel mean faster processing.
  • More memory bandwidth for the cores boosts system performance.

Smart performance boosts for graphics and media processing

Sandy Bridge Media Processor. Click for large view
Sandy Bridge with built-in visuals◊ is optimized for next-generation media workloads. New technologies include:
  • A much more powerful graphics engine than previous Intel microarchitectures speeds 3D and video processing.
  • New hardware-based media accelerators and graphics execution units deliver superior performance for gaming, HD video content, and 3D graphics.
  • New technologies that allow you to truly enjoy all your HD content and web experiences.

Dynamic performance for both processor and graphics

Intelligent power management with Intel® Turbo Boost 2.0◊ dynamically controls performance and power—for both cores and graphics—boosting performance exactly where and when it is needed, and saving energy when it counts.

Design scalability for a wide range of markets

Sandy Bridge addresses servers, workstations, notebooks, and desktop segments with support for two to eight or more cores and up to sixteen or more threads with Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology (Intel® HT Technology)◊. This new microarchitecture also enables thinner form factors, improved battery life, and active energy efficiency for mobile computing applications.

Double the FLOPS, and more

Compute intensive applications get a boost with Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel® AVX), a new, 256 bit instruction set extension to Intel® SSE. Intel AVX along with new Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), operating system, and virtual machine manager (VMM) enhancements extend the architecture for important new applications.

Study skills: How to write effective essay exams in college and university

What is a well written answer to an essay question?
It is…
Well Focused
Be sure to answer the question completely, that is, answer all parts of the question. Avoid “padding.” A lot of rambling and ranting is a sure sign that the writer doesn’t really know what the right answer is and hopes that somehow, something in that overgrown jungle of words was the correct answer.
Well Organized
Don’t write in a haphazard “think-as-you-go” manner. Do some planning and be sure that what you write has a clearly marked introduction which both states the point(s) you are going to make and also, if possible, how you are going to proceed. In addition, the essay should have a clearly indicated conclusion which summarizes the material covered and emphasizes your thesis or main point.
Well Supported
Do not just assert something is true, prove it. What facts, figures, examples, tests, etc. prove your point? In many cases, the difference between an A and a B as a grade is due to the effective use of supporting evidence.
Well Packaged
People who do not use conventions of language are thought of by their readers as less competent and less educated. If you need help with these or other writing skills, go to any writing lab or tutorial help offered by your university or course.
How do you write an effective essay exam?
  1. Read through all the questions carefully.
  2. Budget your time and decide which question(s) you will answer first.
  3. Underline the key word(s) which tell you what to do for each question.
  4. Choose an organizational pattern appropriate for each key word and plan your answers on scratch paper or in the margins.
  5. Write your answers as quickly and as legibly as you can; do not take the time to recopy.
  6. Begin each answer with one or two sentence thesis which summarizes your answer. If possible, phrase the statement so that it rephrases the question’s essential terms into a statement (which therefore directly answers the essay question).
  7. Support your thesis with specific references to the material you have studied.
  8. Proofread your answer and correct errors in spelling and mechanics.
Specific organizational patterns and “key words”
Most essay questions will have one or more “key words” that indicate which organizational pattern you should use in your answer. The six most common organizational patterns for essay exams are:
  • Definition
  • Analysis
  • Cause and Effect
  • Comparison-Contrast
  • Process
  • Thesis and Support

You are the Real Master....Sachin.We salute You

Batting genius Sachin Tendulkar scaled yet another peak in his glittering career when he scored his 51st Test century on the third day of the final Test match against South Africa at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town on Tuesday.

Tendulkar achieved the landmark in the second over after lunch when he top edged a Morne Morkel delivery that went over the keeper and the slips for a six as South Africa opted for the second new ball.

The moment Tendulkar hit the shot, the entire stadium stood up to salute one of the true legends of the game.

Social Networking..Is it USEFUL????...

The Advantages and Disadvantages Of Social Networking

Social Networking is a recent invention that has the Internet still at the edge of its seat due to its popularity with people. This is mostly because it really is for the people. Bringing every kind of social group together in one place and letting them interact is really a big thing indeed. Everything about it lies on the advantages and disadvantages of social networking, and what it can do for you.

Here are the advantages that can be more than enough for you to want to join in.

Low Costs

Definitely, it’s cheaper to use online social networking for both personal and business use because most of it is usually free. While personal use is rather simple for anyone, the business functions are underestimated by many. In a social networking site, you can scout out potential customers and target markets with just a few clicks and keystrokes, adding a boost to your usual advertisements and promotional strategies. It lets you learn about their likes and dislikes, which is tremendous. If you want to fine tune your business, then this is the way to go, whether on a budget or not.

Builds Credibility

You definitely can gain the customers’ confidence if you can connect to them on both a personal and professional level. Despite having to do a bit of work, it definitely pays off as you can be tapped for an offer if someone catches wind of your products or services. As long as you don’t pursue them too aggressively, you will do well here.

Connections

You are friends with people who have other friends, and so on. There is potential in such a common situation. By using a social networking site, you can do what you can and get connected with these people to form a web of connections that can give you leverage if you play your cards right. As long as you give as well as you recieve, then they will most likely stick with you. These connections are definitely valuable in the long run.

That definitely sounds enticing. However, what about the disadvantages though?

Lack of Anonymity

You are putting out information about your name, location, age, gender, and many other types of information that you may not want to let others know. Most people would say be careful, but no one can be certain at any given time. As long as people can know who you exactly are, then some can find ways to do you in.

Scams and Harassment

There is a potential for failure of security in both personal and business context. While many sites apply certain measures to keep any of these cases of harassment, cyber-stalking, online scams, and identity theft to an absolute minimum, you still may never know.

Time Consuming

If this is not your kind of thing, that it would just be a waste of time for you. The key to social networking is that it is supposed to be fun, whether you are just doing it for kicks or clicking around for business purposes. That should be reasonable enough for anyone, but there are those people who don’t see the point. For them, it can be a disadvantage.

Now there’s something to really think about. Nothing is without a blemish, but those of social networking shouldn’t really be that much of a concern regarding your safety. As long as you go along without making big mistakes, then it is all good. You can take advantage of the Internet phenomenon that continues up to this day.
